The senate has approved the revised syllabus for BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme. This syllabus will be implemented starting with the first years who will join in September 2022.
University of Nairobi, University of Arizona and Space Trust have partnered to develop a series of Earth-orbiting space craft built by university students as a frontier for peace. The peace satellite project, 0G2030, which stands for zero gravity, aligns itself with the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
The University of Nairobi has won 2 Kenya Space Agency (KSA) Research grants for the FY 2020-2021 towards Nanosatellite Development and Small Scale Crop Mapping using Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence. The University of Nairobi is part of a consortium of 4 public Universities comprising of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University (JKUAT) and Technical University of Kenya that was awarded a research grant worth three million shillings towards the development of a 3U Nanosatellite.
Engineering students from the University of Nairobi (UoN) are among students from other universities set to benefit from a mentorship programme organized by the Institution of Engineers in Kenya (IEK).

Today the department hosted a group of Starehe girls from kiambu who were on an education visit to the university. They toured various labs in the department whereby they were taken through the various activities that take place in the labs. They were accompanied by their physics teacher Mr. Mwai.
