DESIGN OF A UHF-AERIAL FOR OPTIMAL RECEPTION WITH CONSTANT LENGTHS (EQUAL) OF DIRECTORS

This project is concerned with the design of an optimal UHF antenna by first determining an optimal length for directors and subsequently determining the optimal distances of separation between these. The designed antenna was optimized with respect to the gain. The antenna was designed for the portion of the UHF band used for television broadcasting.

The project also aimed to establish the optimal normalized spacing between directors to facilitate design of antennas for other frequency ranges. The design of the antenna was done using an electromagnetics simulation software program. Subsequent construction of an antenna having the simulated antenna parameters was also carried out.
