AN ELECTRONIC BASED THERMAL TRANSDUCER

The project is about the design of an electronic thermal transducer to display temperature. The dependence on the temperature of the voltage across a forward biased p-n junction can be utilized to realize temperature transducers. When diodes are replaced with diode connected bipolar transistors, high accuracy, linearity, accuracy and simplicity is achieved. The transducer should sense heat and convert it into a measurable voltage signal which is then calibrated for temperature values using the relevant temperature-voltage equation through an ADC. The temperature value is then displayed through an LCD screen interfaced with a microcontroller. The microcontroller also profiles the temperature values into normal, fever and hypothermia and sends this to the display. This makes this transducer design very relevant in the medical field.
